Rita Melikian of Garden City was recently named Outstanding Educator of the Year by the Science Museum of Long Island in recognition of her dedication and service to the field of education. Melikian has been technology director at Garden City Public Schools for the past 17 years and before that was technology director at the Lexington School for the Deaf & Center for the Deaf in Queens. She is also a member of the New York State Association of Computers and Technologies in Education, the International Society for Technology in Education, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
