Robert W. Krueger of Northport has received the Herbert L. and Jean Schultz Mentor Ideal Award from the Association of Concert Bands based on his efforts to inspire pupils to achieve success as outstanding concert band musicians. Krueger retired in 1982 as music education director of the Northport-East Northport School District and served as vice president of the New York State School Music Association from 1969 to 1970. He also founded the Northport Community Band in 1959 and has served as president of the New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education's Suffolk County Chapter and Nassau and Suffolk counties' music educators associations.
