Ruth Elinor Botwinik of Valley Stream has received the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board Award in the category of teaching English as a foreign language for the 2011-12 academic year. Botwinik, who was one of 12 individuals selected in the category nationwide, is an adjunct professor in the Basic Skills Department at Queensborough Community College. As part of the scholarship, she will travel to Dushanbe, Tajikistan, this semester to be an English instructor at the Tajikistan State Institution of Foreign Languages.
