State Sen. Owen Johnson (R-West Babylon) received the Harry Ballard Humanitarian Award at the Bay Shore-based nonprofit Breast Cancer Help's 16th annual Gala and Casino Night last month for his long-standing support of the organization and efforts to raise more than $1 million in funding since its inception in 1994. Johnson was first elected to the Senate in 1972 and is currently the senior assistant majority leader. He is also vice chair of the Senate Finance Committee and state chairman of the American Legislative Council.
