Thomas A. Tarantowicz of Selden has received the Library Directors Associates Award for Excellence in Library Achievement from Whitestone-based LDA Publishers for his "outstanding contribution to libraries on Long Island." Tarantowicz has served as director of Brentwood Public Library since 2003 and has assisted in the library's creation of a Youth Services Department and a Career and Educational Resources Center. He also has held positions at Half Hollow Hills, Patchogue-Medford and Sayville public libraries.
