Timothy Glotch of Selden recently received the Faculty Early Career Development Program Award from the National Science Foundation for his research identifying the mineral composition of planetary bodies using infrared spectrometers on orbiting spacecraft. Glotch, who was awarded a five-year grant of about $494,000, is an associate professor in the Department of Geosciences at Stony Brook University, which he joined in 2007, and leads Stony Brook's Vibrational Spectroscopy Laboratory. He also authored or co-authored more than 40 pieces in various science journals.
