Todd Rosengart of Stony Brook University Medical Center will receive the 2011 Distinguished Service Award later this month from the American Heart Association based on his efforts to create awareness about heart disease and stroke on Long Island. Rosengart is co-director of the medical center's Heart Center and chairman of the surgery department and chief of the cardiothoracic surgery division at Stony Brook University School of Medicine. He is also chair of the association's Surgery Study Section and past president of the 21st Century Cardiac Surgery Society.
