Tom Azzara of Brightwaters recently received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service from the State University of New York. Azzara is the associate director of athletics at Farmingdale State College and has been head golf coach there for the past 12 years. He has also been instrumental in the college's transition to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), its successful application for membership in the NCAA's Division III Skyline Conference, and the creation of a new sport management degree program, the college said.
