Valerie Zurblis of Huntington has received the 2012 Long Island Achievement in Communications award from the International Association of Business Communicators' Long Island Chapter for "elevating her profession's image and serving as a role model for communicators." Zurblis is director of marketing and public relations for the Nassau County Bar Association and a founding member and past president of the Public Relations Professionals of Long Island. She is also a founding board member of the Executive Women's Golf Association's Long Island Chapter and has served on boards of the Long Island Advertising Club and Girl Scouts of Nassau County, among other organizations.
