Elaine E. Stillwell of Rockville Centre has received the 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award from upstate Manhattanville College based on her career achievements. Stillwell is founder and chapter leader of The Compassionate Friends of Rockville Centre, self-help group for parents who have lost a child. She is also a former bereavement coordinator for the Diocese of Rockville Centre, a columnist for Grief Digest magazine, and a workshop presenter and author of a book about parental grieving.
