Peter Barnett of Sayville was recently named a "local hero" by Bank of America for his commitment to helping the homeless on Long Island. Barnett is an adjunct professor in the Department of Religious Studies at St. Joseph's College in Patchogue and is executive director of Wyandanch Homes and Property Development Corp. He is co-founder of the Nassau-Suffolk Coalition for the Homeless and an appointee to the Suffolk County Legislature's Welfare to Work Commission.
