Nicholas Haskell of Wantagh has received a certificate of recognition from the Town of Hempstead, Seaford American Legion and Nassau Legis. David Denenberg (D-Merrick) for his efforts
in saving a drowning neighbor in
September. Haskell, a student at
Chaminade High School, heard the screams of neighbor Greg Calleca after he had fallen into Bright Waters Canal in Wantagh. Haskell kept Calleca afloat for about five minutes until other neighbors responded in a makeshift raft.
