Fran Karliner of Old Bethpage has received the president's award from Soropomist International of Nassau County for efforts to "improve the lives of women and girls in local communities." Since 2001, Karliner has served as director of development and community relations for Hi-Hello Child Care in Freeport and served as the public relations and marketing and grants director for the Child Care Council

of Nassau.
