George Santiago Jr. of Bethpage was honored by March of Dimes' Long Island Chapter at its 14th Annual Golden Apple Awards Dinner for contributions as "an outstanding individual making a difference through a commitment to education." He has been president of Briarcliffe College since 2006 and before that was the college's provost for two years. He is also involved with community groups including Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth, Nassau County Youth Board and American Cancer Society.
