Howard Dolgon

of East Meadow has received the James C. Hendy Memorial Award from the American Hockey League for his contributions as "the league's outstanding executive." Dolgon is president and chief executive of the minor-league Syracuse Crunch, and is credited with helping to coordinate the 2010 Mirabito Outdoor Classic, which was the first outdoor game in league history. His tenure, which began in 1994, is currently the longest of any independently-owned franchise in the league.
