Husband and wife Joe Patellaro and Sandy Claghorn of Manhattan recently received the first James J. Harnett Humanitarian Award from the Family & Children's Association in Mineola based on their dedication and service to the agency. Patellaro's involvement with the association reaches back almost 20 years when he first became a volunteer, and he is now a member of its board of directors. Claghorn became a volunteer in 2003 upon meeting Patellaro, association officials said.
