Kathleen O'Driscoll of North Merrick has received the Superintendent's Outstanding Appreciation Recognition Award from Island Park Public Schools for her "exceptional work ethic, performance and commitment to excellence." O'Driscoll is a third-grade teacher at Francis X. Hegarty Elementary School, where she has worked since 1995. She also has been director of the district's summer theater and is active in the student plays at Lincoln Orens Middle School.
