Laurie Murdock of Port Washington recently received a certificate of recognition from Hempstead Town for the "many contributions she has made to the autism community." Murdock, a mother of two autistic children, is founder and executive director of the Mosaic School of Autism, a Wantagh-based private school founded in 2004 that serves children with autism ages 5-21. She was honored by Town of Hempstead Councilman Dorothy Goosby during the school's Community Inclusion Day in August.
