Lynne Nowick of St. James was honored as 2009 person of the year in government by the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce for her continued efforts to improve the Kings Park community. Nowick (R-St. James), an advocate for open-space protection and drug prevention, has served in the Suffolk County Legislature for nine years and previously served as the Town of Smithtown's receiver of taxes. She was honored at a dinner-dance last month at the Hyatt Regency in Hauppauge.
