Michael J. Dowling of Northport has received the Leslie C. Quick Jr. Life Enrichment Award from the Arthritis Foundation's Long Island Chapter based on "his work to help people with arthritis." Dowling is president and CEO of North Shore-LIJ Health System, which he joined in 1995, and is chairman of the National Center for Healthcare Leadership. Before that he was a senior vice president at Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield and has also served as commissioner of the New York State Department of Social Services.
