Nanette Palermo of New Hyde Park has received the Robert and Marjorie Schreibman Caregiving Award from the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation for dedication and service to the group. She has volunteered at the Port Washington-based foundation for more than a decade and currently serves in its Happy Days Program, a weekly group that combines recreational activities with supportive group discussion. She also brings her dog Cassie, a pet therapy animal, to visit with foundation participants twice a month.
