Steven Jonas of

Port Jefferson has received the 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award from Yale University's School of Public Health. Jonas, who graduated from Yale in 1967, is a professor of preventive medicine at Stony Brook University's School of Medicine and has published more than 135 papers in scientific journals. He is also an elected fellow of the New York Academy of Sciences, the American College of Preventive Medicine and the American Public Health Association, among other organizations.
