Susan Thomas of Herricks received the President's Award for Exceptional Patient Experience from North Shore-LIJ Health System for her efforts implementing bereavement initiatives that have "touched the lives and hearts of countless patients, family members and coworkers." Thomas is a social worker at the Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York in New Hyde Park. She previously served in the hospital's Center for Healing, Opportunity, Perseverance and Enlightenment (HOPE).
