LAKE RONKONKOMA / Man missing from facility

An 86-year-old man who is deaf and has dementia is missing from a Lake Ronkonkoma adult home -- the second time this week he's wandered off, Suffolk police said Saturday.

Detectives are trying to find Victor Mangine, who was last seen Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Lake Shore Adult Home, police said.

The home is not a locked facility and patients are allowed to come and go, police said. Mangine had moved into the home about a week ago.

Mangine walks with a cane. He's white, 5-foot-4 and 160 pounds, with short gray hair. He has a mustache and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a tan button-down shirt and tan pants. A recent photograph of Mangine was not immediately available.

Earlier this week, police said, Mangine was found wandering around Windows at the Lake, a catering hall up the road from the nursing home. He'd been missing for about an hour. At the hall, he went into the kitchen and said he wanted to cook food. He also took keys from a car. He was found by the catering hall owner and returned to the nursing home, police said.

A woman who answered the phone Saturday night at the nursing home, at 211 Lake Shore Rd., said: "I have no comments about anything" and then hung up.

Anyone with information can call the police Fugitive/Missing Persons Section at 631-852-6040.

A Centereach man who had his New York State driver's license suspended or revoked dozens of times has been arrested in connection with another traffic violation, police said.

A Suffolk police officer stopped Daniel Sulima Thursday for failing to signal, police said. The officer discovered Sulima had a license that had been suspended and revoked 46 times, police said. The suspensions were for a variety of traffic violations, including failure to pay fines, speeding, failure to appear in court and operating without insurance, police said.

Officer Travis Pfeffer was going east on Sunrise Highway in Oakdale when a black Ford van exited without signaling, police said. Police arrested Sulima on charges of aggravated unlicensed driving.
