NEW HYDE PARK / Cops look for suspect who followed girl, 14
Nassau police are investigating a complaint from a 14-year-old girl who said she was followed on Leonard Boulevard in New Hyde Park by a middle-aged man.
The girl, who was not named by police, was walking on Leonard Boulevard on Saturday just after 4 p.m., when a man got out of a silver 4-door sedan and began following her and trying to talk to her, police said. The girl ran and was followed by the man, who continued trying to talk to her, police said.
Police said the girl got home safely and the man fled in an unknown direction.
Police describe the suspect as 40 to 50 years old with gray medium-length hair, wearing a gray T-shirt and tan shorts.
Police ask anyone with information to call 800-244-TIPS. Calls will remain anonymous, police said.

EAST FARMINGDALE / Teen critically injured while crossing Route 110
A 17-year-old Manorville resident was critically injured when she was hit by a car Sunday morning while crossing Route 110 in East Farmingdale with a group of friends.
Natali DiMaio, of Wading River Road, is in critical condition at Nassau University Medical Center, police said.
DiMaio was struck at 12:08 a.m. by a Nissan Altima driven by a Brooklyn man, police said. The Altima had a green light in the intersection, police said. The accident took place just south of Conklin Street.
The driver of the Altima will not face charges, police said. The accident remains under investigation, and the car was impounded for a safety check, police said. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at 631-854-8146 or 631-854-8152.

SMITHTOWN / Man shot in face with BB pellet outside bar
Suffolk police are investigating an incident in which a 20-year-old Smithtown man was shot in the face with a BB pellet outside a bar.
On Saturday night, Tim Sartain was standing with a group of friends outside Molly Blooms, a Main Street bar in Smithtown, police said, when a car came by and someone inside fired BBs at the bar, striking Sartain in the face, police said. Sartain lost a tooth but his injuries were otherwise not serious, police said.
Police said the suspects appeared to be targeting the bar and not Sartain or his friends personally. Police said they are treating the case as a second-degree assault.
