LI waters to be calm with light winds, weather service says
A cold front passing south of Long Island helps keep waters calm and winds reasonably light for the next several days, the National Weather Service said Wednesday in its marine forecast.
As the cold front continues to track south of Long Island waters, high pressure builds into the region then drifts east Friday, the service's Upton office said.
The high lingers over the Atlantic for the weekend.
Winds pick up over most waters starting Sunday night, the service said.
Weather conditions Wednesday for most of Long Island consist of light, scattered showers and daily highs in the mid 60s.
