Eastbound lanes reopen after six-vehicle crash on LIE, police say
Police cleared lanes on the eastbound Long Island Expressway Saturday afternoon in Brentwood after six vehicles crashed, including a tour bus and a big rig.
A tractor trailer crashed into a 2004 Honda about 10:30 a.m., The crash sent the Honda into the carpool lane wall, and the Honda was then hit by a tour bus operated by Skyliner Travel, Suffolk County police said. Two other vehicles, a Subaru and a GMC van, were also involved in the crash.
The crash caused minor injuries to a 42-year-old woman in the Honda and her 11-year-old daughter. They were taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore to be treated.
Police said no other injuries were reported. The tour bus was carrying a driver and 45 passengers.
