LIE crashes slow Thursday morning traffic
A two-vehicle accident in western Suffolk County closed the right lane of the eastbound Long Island Expressway during Thursday's morning commute.
The state Department of Transportation reported the accident at informny.com at 7:05 a.m.
The site said the accident was between Exits 57 and 58, in Islandia, and was resolved in a matter of minutes.
Earlier, a two-car accident on the westbound LIE in western Suffolk slowed traffic, starting at 5:28 a.m., west of Exit 51, Route 231, in Dix Hills, according to the DOT.
A Suffolk County police spokeswoman said she had no reports of injuries.
The DOT said that accident was resolved and all lanes cleared at 6:31 a.m.
The accident slowed traffic in all three lanes and closed a portion of the high-occupancy-vehicle lane from Exit 53, the Sagtikos Parkway in Commack, to just west of Exit 51.
In Queens, the DOT reported an accident on the LIE at Exit 16, in Greenpoint, at 6:52 a.m., causing stop-and-go traffic starting at Exit 17, the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.
