A motorcyclist lost control of his bike and struck a guardrail on the Long Island Expressway, causing the two-hour closure of all eastbound lanes on Sunday, police said.

The lanes were closed about 1:15 p.m. at Exit 46, Sunnyside Boulevard, in Plainview. They were reopened by 3:50 p.m., Nassau County police said.

The accident did not involve any other vehicles, police said. The motorcyclist was treated at an area hospital for injuries police described as not life threatening.
