Sunrise Highway, LIE overnight lane closures in Nassau and Suffolk

Several lanes on the Long Island Expressway and Sunrise Highway will be shut down for repaving over the next several weeks, the state Department of Transportation announced.

Eastbound lanes on the LIE between Exit 39, Glen Cove Road, and Exit 40, Jericho Turnpike, will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for about two weeks starting Sunday. The HOV lane will also be closed between those exits starting at 9 p.m. each night, weather permitting.

Drivers can use the South Service Road in the meantime, or the Northern State Parkway, officials said.

Transportation workers are also repaving two eastbound lanes on Sunrise Highway between Harrison Avenue in Hempstead and County Line Road in Babylon.

Those lanes will be closed Sunday nights through Thursday nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Construction there will begin Monday and last for about four weeks, officials said.
