Boaters can expect light and variable winds across Long Island waters through the weekend, the National Weather Service said Thursday in its marine forecast.

Winds for most areas are forecast to be 5-10 knots with waves at 1-2 feet, the service's Upton office said.

For the next several days, inland weather conditions for Nassau and Suffolk counties are expected to be warm and sunny with 70-degree temperatures or higher.

The service said wind flow is expected to strengthen at the beginning of the week in advance of a cold front.
