Westbound Long Island Rail Road trains were being delayed up to 25 minutes following a temporary suspension of service during the Tuesday evening rush because of Amtrak signal problems, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said.
The signal problems, east of the East River tunnels, briefly suspended westbound service from Jamaica for the Babylon, Far Rockaway, Hempstead, Long Beach and Montauk lines, the MTA said on its website.
As of about 6 p.m., all westbound service was experiencing residual delays up to 25 minutes, the MTA said. The LIRR reported scattered 5- to 10-minute delays eastbound out of Penn Station.
