LIRR passengers can now expect a normal rush hour Wednesday after power was restored at Amtrak's Sunnyside Yard in Queens, rail officials said.

A catenary wire had fallen at the Queens rail yard, and the loss of power interrupted Amtrak service and caused congestion in the East River tunnels used by LIRR, according to the two rail operations.

LIRR sent out an alert that said riders should anticipate possible delays and train cancellations, then minutes later tweeted that the rush hour should be normal.

In its tweet, Amtrak said power was restored about 5:20 p.m.
