The Long Island Rail Road will be running extra Wednesday afternoon trains to accommodate commuters leaving work early in anticipation of Wednesday's winter storm, which is expected to dump about a foot of snow on the region.

Riders should also expect some canceled and combined trains on Wednesday evening, as well as temporary service suspensions for snow removal.

For more information, contact the LIRR's 24-hour information line in Suffolk County at 631-231-LIRR, and in Nassau County at 516-822-LIRR.
