A man was fatally struck by a train Thursday at the Little Neck Parkway crossing in Queens, the Long Island Rail Road said.

The man, in his 70s, was hit at 10:20 a.m., said Sam Zambuto, a spokesman for the commuter service.

Zambuto said that the man could have "accidentally fallen into the side of the train as it was going through the crossing," according to a preliminary investigation by Metropolitan Transportation Authority police

Police did not identify the victim, and Zambuto said the investigation is continuing.

The incident resulted in a temporary suspension of service on the Port Washington branch for about 90 minutes.
