The Long Island Rail Road has restored service on the Montauk Branch about an hour and a half after a broken rail between Patchogue and Sayville caused its suspension Friday.

Trains are now operating with residual delays.

Service had been suspended just after 5 a.m., officials said.

The situation affected all service east of Babylon.

During the service suspension officials asked customers to use alternate branches.
