LIRR: New schedules, added trains begin Monday

New Long Island Rail Road schedules go into effect Monday, with two more trains on the Babylon branch and various service changes on the Valley Stream and Long Beach lines to repair tracks damaged by superstorm Sandy.
The new schedules for all 11 LIRR branches will be in effect through May 18, officials said.
One of the two tracks between Valley Stream and Long Beach will be out of service weekdays during midday to accommodate repairs. Eastbound midday Long Beach, Far Rockaway and Hempstead Branch trains will depart 30 to 36 minutes later.
Another change will be an additional stop for the 7:13 a.m. train from Oyster Bay. That train will stop at Hunterspoint in Long Island City.
Commuters should also expect midday schedule adjustments on the Babylon, Ronkonkoma and Port Jefferson (to Huntington) branches. Buses will replace two midday trains between Riverhead and Greenport while new track ties are installed.
Track maintenance on the Riverhead line will affect midday service in both directions. Trains will be replaced by bus service, officials said.
