LIRR: Normal service expected Friday morning
The Long Island Rail Road said it expected a normal rush hour Friday morning in the wake the derailment of a NJ Transit train Thursday night near Penn Station.
The LIRR advised riders to check its website — mta.info/lirr — for any updates, or check the LIRR Twitter feed.
NJ Transit service in and out of Penn was briefly suspended after the derailment about 9:10 p.m. Thursday, and the agency reported 15-minute delays Friday morning.
Amtrak, which controls the tracks at Penn, said in a statement at 5 a.m. Friday that its trains had resumed their normal schedules, but advised riders they “can expect some minor congestion-related delays.”
