The LIRR said it was operating on or close to schedule during Wednesday’s morning rush hour after earlier experiencing westbound delays into Penn Station because of signal trouble outside the East River tunnels.

At one point scattered westbound delays were averaging 10 to 15 minutes, the Long Island Rail Road said.

The rail service first told customers to prepare for delays in alerts via social media at about 8 a.m.

By about 9 a.m. the LIRR said it was on or close.
