The Long Island Rail Road said shortly before the end of Tuesday’s morning rush hour that it was operating on or close to schedule after earlier delays caused by switch trouble near the Mineola station.

The LIRR said in an email and on social media shortly before 10 a.m. that trains were on or close in both directions.

Initially, the switch trouble caused westbound delays averaging about 20 minutes through Mineola on the Ronkonkoma, Port Jefferson and Oyster Bay branches starting just before 8:30 a.m.
