LIRR on or close after overnight service suspension between Jamaica and Penn stations
The Long Island Rail Road was operating on or close to schedule early Monday after an earlier suspension between Penn and Jamaica stations due to police activity, the LIRR said.
The police activity had been related to an unauthorized vehicle on the tracks near the Hunterspoint Avenue station, the LIRR said in announcing the service suspension shortly before midnight.
During the suspension, NYC Transit was cross-honoring LIRR fares on the E and 7 subway lines, officials said.
At 3:15 a.m. the LIRR said in a tweet that service had been restored.
