The Long Island Rail Road is adding 13 eastbound trains to its afternoon schedule for those making the holiday getaway on Christmas Eve.
Additional service from Penn Station, between 12:46 and 3:48 p.m., is being provided on the Babylon, Port Jefferson, Ronkonkoma and Far Rockaway branches, the LIRR said in a notice to customers on its website.
The trains are being added "to accommodate the large number of customers leaving work early to begin their Christmas holiday," the LIRR said.
The LIRR was on or close to schedule Tuesday morning.
