A Long Island Rail Road train struck and killed a person on the tracks near Babylon on Saturday night, LIRR officials said.

The Montauk-bound train hit the person about 7:45 p.m., the LIRR said.

LIRR service on the Montauk line, which had been suspended in both directions while investigators were on the accident scene, was restored about 9:45 p.m., officials said.
