LIRR: Port Washington line back in service, tree removed from tracks
Service was restored Friday on the Port Washington branch after being suspended earlier in both directions because of a tree on the tracks, the Long Island Rail Road said.
Service was initially suspended between Port Washington and Great Neck at about 6:45 a.m. because of a downed tree west of the Plandome station.
At least three trains were canceled before service was restored shortly after 7:30 a.m., the LIRR said.
During the nearly 45-minute suspension, the LIRR asked customers to use alternate branches or travel to Great Neck for westbound service.
