The LIRR has announced several scheduling changes that will begin next week, including the restoration of a pair of weekend Oyster Bay trains.
The LIRR is putting back the 1:46 a.m. Saturday train from Jamaica to Oyster Bay, and the 7:19 a.m. Saturday train to Jamaica out of Oyster Bay. Both trains were eliminated in 2010 in a cost-cutting measure.
To accommodate reverse-peak commuters, the LIRR is also adding a Mineola stop to the 8:19 a.m. train from Jamaica to Port Jefferson, allowing for connections to and from Oyster Bay and Ronkonkoma trains. The train will now depart a minute earlier from Jamaica, at 8:18 a.m.
Departure times for trains on several other branches will also change temporarily beginning on Tuesday because of construction work. The LIRR is also adding trains to and from Atlantic Terminal to accommodate riders going to Islanders home games at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
