The Long Island Rail Road said during the Friday morning rush hour it was operating on or close to schedule after earlier delays averaging 10 minutes in both directions on the Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma branches.

The delays ran just after 6 a.m. to about 7 a.m. and were related to a broken crossing gate near Westbury station, the commuter rail service said.

The delays were caused in part by trains operating at reduced speeds when approaching the area near the broken crossing gate, the LIRR said.
