The Long Island Rail Road is reporting its trains are on or close to schedule systemwide after widespread delays during the evening commute after a person was struck by a train at the Woodside Station, the railroad said in a series of tweets.

The incident affected both east and westbound trains on the Long Beach, Far Rockaway, West Hempstead, Oyster Bay, Hempstead, Port Jefferson, Ronkonkoma and Montauk branches throughout the evening, according to the LIRR's Twitter account.

The railroad first tweeted that an "unauthorized person on the tracks" had been hit by a train about 6:25 p.m.

A call to the LIRR's after-hours media number was not returned Friday evening, and no further information about the victim's condition was provided.
