An early evening fire at a Garden City Park warehouse damaged a building and some cars, prompting Long Island Rail Road officials to halt trains in both directions on the Port Jefferson line, officials said Thursday night.
LIRR spokesman Sal Arena said late Thursday that service was restored at the Merillon Avenue station, with "residual delays."
The fire was extinguished by about 11:20 p.m., a Nassau police officer said.
"No injuries were reported at all . . . we're opening up the roads around it," the officer said.
The 8 p.m. blaze took place at 194 Atlantic Ave., a one-story structure housing JBH Environmental Restoration and other firms, Nassau police and fire officials said.
