LIRR: St. Patrick’s Day means more trains, less alcohol

The Long Island Rail Road said it will run an additional six westbound trains and 10 eastbound trains Friday for people attending the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Manhattan.
The railroad urged riders to save time and money by buying a round-trip ticket in advance or using its eTix app.
As usual, alcoholic beverages are banned on trains, stations and platforms from 12:01 a.m. on parade day through 5 a.m. the next day. MTA Police will enforce the ban, the railroad said.
Three westbound trains before the parade will be added on the Babylon branch, plus two from Hicksville/Huntington and one from Farmingdale.
After the parade, there will be four added trains on the Babylon branch, three to Hicksville/Huntington and one each to Far Rockaway, Great Neck and Ronkonkoma.
All the added trains start or end at Penn Station.
