LIRR service on part of the Babylon branch has been fully restored, with trains running on or close to schedule after an unauthorized person on the tracks was struck and killed Monday morning.
Service had been temporarily suspended service in both directions. According to the Long Island Rail Road, the train struck the victim, identified only as a male, about 11:10 a.m. at Massapequa Park and an investigation was underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
After the crash, a brief suspension had been in effect between Freeport and Babylon.
